Obituary for CLAYTON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Monday March 29, 2010

Bernard E. (Eddie) Clayton, a resident of Albuquerque for 65 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Lovelace Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1934 in Effingham, Illinois. He attended Highland High School in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister, his oldest son, and his oldest daughter. Eddie resided at the Albuquerque Grand Retirement Center for the last four years prior to his death, where he enjoyed playing poker with other residents, and telling stories to all who would listen. Eddie is survived by three daughters, Cindy Burr, Chris Clayton and husband, Steve Sanchez, and Sandy Gonzales and husband, Gary; and one son, Charlie Clayton, all of Albuquerque. Eddie also leaves behind nine grandchildren. The family would like to express our warmest gratitude to the staff of Vista Care Hospice and Dr. Patricia Morrow, M.D., for the extraordinary care and kindness they provided our father. In addition, our deepest appreciation to the staff, (the girls, as our Dad called them), at the Albuquerque Grand for the care and love they gave our Dad, each and every day. Without them, the quality of life our Dad experienced would have been severely diminished in his last years. A memorial celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal SE. In lieu of flowers, our dad would have preferred a donation to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico at 415 Virginia SE, ABQ, NM 87108.
