Obituary for MURPHY

Geraldine Asmuth Murphy, born July 29, 1914, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward M. "Ted" Murphy, a long time elected public servant, her parents, Walter and Mary Clontarf Cavanagh Asmuth, her siblings, Col. Walter Asmuth USMC, Minnie Cheseldine, Virginia Asmuth, and brothers-in-law, Charles Meade and Albert Goenner. She is survived by her sisters Eileen Goenner of Bethesda, MD, and Anne Meade of Hyattsville, MD, sons and daughters, Michael and wife, Audrey of Fairbanks, AK, Eileen, Judith and James Massey, Geraldine "Jelly", Cornelia "Connie", Sheila, Dennis and Trish Kaehele, Kevin, Thomas, and grandchildren Boleslo E. "Bo" Romero, and David C. Murphy-Massey all of Albuquerque. She will also be missed by her extended family and special friends including Debbie, Harriet, Antoinette, Diane and Ed, Paul and Cat, Dean, Myah, Becca, Helen, Steve, Georgia, and many others. Thank you all for your prayers and sympathy. After raising her children she returned to school (TVI) and worked at the NM Employment Security Commission as a computer programmer. She volunteered with many organizations including League of Women Voters, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Brothers of the Good Shepherd Auxiliary, Democratic Women, PTA, and others. She also tutored at Garfield and Jackson Middle Schools and taught catechism at Our Lady of Guadalupe. She also enjoyed singing with the UNM Chorus. Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW on Monday, March 29, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
