Obituary for MARES

Maria Margie Mares, 73, a resident of Albuquerque passed away Saturday morning following a long illness. She was the daughter of Maria Eliza Montoya and Rosendo Casias of Lucero, NM. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe Ruben Mares; and their three children, Elizabeth Hokhold and husband Joe Hokhold of Plano, TX, Catherine Mares of Plano, TX and Richard Mares of Albuquerque; She is also survived by three sisters, Rafalita (Lita) Vigil and Ernest Vigil of Santa Fe, Flamina Adams of Albuquerque and Elsie Brown of Austin, TX; numerous nieces, nephews; and beloved friends. Mrs. Mares was born in Lucero, NM on September 29, 1936. She was a lifelong Catholic. Margie and her husband have been members of The Shrine of St. Bernadette for 50 years and she was a long time member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had a great love for life, many hobbies, loved to travel and was a devoted Lobo and Dallas Cowboy fan. She retired from the Qwest Telephone Company in 1992 after 30 years of service. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, March 26, 2010, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE. Interment will be Monday, March 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that masses be paid in Mrs. Mares honor at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE Albuquerque 87112.
