Obituary for THIGPEN

Andrew Calvin Thigpen II, 53, passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born July 1, 1956 to Andrew and Janet Thigpen. Calvin is survived by his common-law wife Jamie Thigpen; his sons, Justin D. Thigpen, Richard T. Thigpen, Billyjack Shaw; his daughter Jeannie Gonzalez and husband Marcos; his grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Thigpen, Cody Lane Thigpen, Tona Lea Thigpen, Cody James and Corben Thigpen, Marcos Jr. and Octavian Gonzalez; brother, Daniel Thigpen and wife Tina; sister, Terry Ann Sheets and husband, Pat; his nieces, Jamie Moats and husband, DJ, and Kylie Waddell; his nephews, Jesse Thigpen, Ryan Sheets, Dusty and Dakota Moats, Rusty Kriete, Chad and Brad Waddell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son Dwayne Cody Shaw. Calvin was a born and raised in Albuquerque where he attended Highland High School. After school Calvin joined the US Coast Guard where he served honorably. Soon after the Coast Guard Calvin began working for Halliburton in Farmington, NM. With Halliburton, Calvin had the opportunity to live in Dubai, UAE and in Islamabad, Pakistan. Calvin also worked the Halliburton rigs in Europe, most countries of the Middle East and Central Asia. Calvin returned to the US and worked for Halliburton and BJ Services in the Texas Panhandle. Later he would explore the US and Canada driving for various companies, the latest being Upstaging Inc., where he was able to share the road with his younger brother Daniel, and a crew of very good friends.Calvin was loved by many. He was married four times, to Cindy, Linda, Cherryl and Jamie, each marriage special. He loved the children his wives gave him, even those not of his blood. He was a hero to his siblings, and a beloved son. Calvin as a man loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. He loved watching football and NASCAR. He loved his animals and his trucks. Calvin loved music, turned way up loud. He loved quiet times with family and friends. He was fun loving, goodhearted, and gregarious. Calvin found God later in life through the Mormon Church. He will greatly missed by all who know and love him. A final word from Calvin, "Truck" em easy, keep "em sunny side up!". Memorial Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in Bernalillo, NM at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010.
