Fred Salas, 58, passed away on March 12, 2010, at his home in Albuquerque, NM. He was formerly of Las Vegas, NM. Fred was born on October 30, 1951, in Las Vegas, NM to the late Thomas and Cecilia Salas. Fred graduated from West Las Vegas High School. He was currently employed at the Sandia National Laboratory. His hobbies were wood-working and fishing. He is survived by his sisters, Frances Lujan (James), Cathy Duran (Gilbert), Angie Senior (Bruce), Theresa Bustos (Marvin), Josie Gonzales (Alfred), and Rose Campos (Albert); brothers, Thomas Salas (Betty), David Salas (Angie), and Robert Salas (Regina); God-daughters, Elaine Romero and Devin Gabaldon, girlfriend, Joann Fresquez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Cecilia Salas; brother, Pablo Salas; God-son and nephew, Marcus Bustos; niece, Catherine Montoya; and his wife Lucille Salas. Cremation has taken place. Rosary Services will be held on the evening of Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., with the funeral on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Father John Brasher will be celebrating the mass of Resurrection. The burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM immediately following the funeral mass. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
