Gertrude "Gret" Tatnall Jacobson, 92, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Santa Fe Care Center. Gertrude was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on May 6, 1917, to Henry Lea Tatnall, Jr. and Frances Dorr Swift Tatnall, she graduated from Tatnall School and attended Smith and Skidmore Colleges before marrying Dr. Alan Jacobson, of Baltimore, MD, in 1939. The couple moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1946. She became the co-founder of Brandywine Galleries, Ltd. in 1969; she also became a appraiser of fine arts and antiques, attaining senior membership in the American Society of Appraisers. She wrote a two-volume guide to Haviland China in 1979. In 1983 Gertrude moved to Santa Fe, where she retired as an appraiser and volunteered as a literacy tutor at Santa Fe Community College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; her daughter Caroline "Carrie" Ramsey Tatnall Jacobson-May, Santa Cruz, CA; and nine brothers and sisters. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Victoria "Vicky" Frances Tatnall Jacobson, of Santa Fe, granddaughter, Francie White Angelov and great granddaughter, Alexandra Victoria Angelov, both of Las Vegas, Nevada.
