Mary Louise Chavez, age 89, beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, March 12, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 28, 1920 in El Paso, TX and was a resident of Albuquerque. Mary Louise graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1939; she was one of the original employees at Kirtland AFB hired during World War II. Her career spanned 30 years where she was employed at various federal agencies. Mary Louise was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Alameda; a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Society; and a former member of the Siglo de Oro RV Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Favian and Maria Hernandez; her brother; three sisters; and son, Peter Chavez. Mary Louise is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ambrose V. Chavez; her children, Fred Chavez, Therese Chavez-Villareal and her husband Al, Helene, Cecilia and Rebecca Chavez; daughter-in-law, Susan Chavez; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary Louise will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Lee Chavez, Paul Chavez, Victor Chavez, Jesse Hernandez, Steve Hernandez, and Greg Mitchell.
