Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday March 12, 2010

Luora "Jean" McCormick, 71, went to be with her Lord on March 9, 2010 with her loving family at her bedside. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Col. David E. McCormick, US Air Force (Ret.); her three daughters, Cynthia Teller and husband, Elliott, Diane McCormick Powers and husband, Mike, and Joanne Rucker and husband, Bill of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her son, David and her loving parents, Jim and Mary Alice Langley. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Ryan, Ashley, David, Bryan, Troy, and Emily as well as three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, and Diego. She will be forever remembered as the heart of her family and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She freely gave of herself to her family, friends, and community. She lived in many states and countries and while sharing a U.S. Air Force career with her husband prior to settling in Albuquerque in 1986 to be near her family. She was the perfect "Air Force wife," many times being both the mother and father when duty called her husband away. She also served as a volunteer to many organizations including Mended Hearts, Compassionate Friends, and at VA Hospitals. The family wishes to express our deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr.'s John Burdon and Russell Schultz; the Presbyterian Hospice staff and the caring professionals in Presbyterian Radiology especially Candi Warren and Sara Longwell. Cremation has taken place and memorial services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday March 13, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 603, New York, NY, 10038-4810 or to the Hepatitis C Support Group, University of New Mexico Hospital, 2211 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131.
