Obituary for ROGERS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday March 07, 2010

Patrick Daniel Rogers, 77, beloved husband for 47 years of Nancy L. Rogers, of San Diego, California, former resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and native of Detroit, Michigan, went to be with the Lord, March 1, 2010. He was born May 4, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Patrick Joseph and Edna (McGann) Rogers. He was the oldest of five siblings, Mary, John, Sharon and Sheila. He married Nancy Kidder January 17, 1963, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. A dedicated alumnus of University of Detroit High School, he entered the seminary and served in the United States Air Force before attending University of Detroit, and then beginning a passion and career in construction and heavy-equipment sales in the Detroit Metropolitan area. His beautiful blue eyes and warm Irish smile made him a quick friend to many, be it, Laffrey's, Dunleavy's, Quarters or Sage, he always had a story to share with a new friend, and kept in touch with old friends through his final days. A long-standing member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Farmington Hills, Michigan, and aficionado of all things Catholic, Irish and athletic, he adored his precious family: wife Nancy; children and grandchildren Dianne and Paul Saber of San Diego (grandchildren Graham and Hannah), Sheilah and Paul DiLorenzo of Albuquerque (grandchildren Grace and Ella), and Patrick and Amber Rogers of San Diego (grandchildren Faith and Patrick Joseph (PJ)). Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Mary and Sheila. Services will be held, Monday, March 8, 2010, at 1:00 o'clock p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 1001 Encinitas Blvd., Encinitas, California, 92024.
