Obituary for LUCERO

Luciano Lucero, Sr., age 95, a life long resident of Bernalillo, NM, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 after a short illness. He retired from the New Mexico Timber in Bernalillo after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Sandoval County Sheriffs Posse all his life, which gave him the opportunity of do what he enjoyed doing, riding his horse. Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lugarita Lucero; children, Fedila and Angie Lucero, Tony, Ignacio, Luciano Jr., and Lorenzo Lucero Sr.; a granddaughter, Connie Lucero-Ortiz; son-in-law, Benny King; and daughter-in-law, Helen Lucero. He is survived by his loving children, Isabel Moreno and husband Juan of Bernalillo, NM, Irene King, Dorothy Benavidez and husband Marty of Albuquerque, Ramon and Ronnie Lucero of Bernalillo, and Louie Lucero and wife Margarita of California; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his daughter-in-laws, Patsy Lucero of Albuquerque, Gladys Lucero of Rio Rancho, and Mela Lucero of California; his brother, Reynaldo Lucero and wife Lucy of Albuquerque; and other numerous relatives and friends. Mr. Lucero will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be this evening (Tuesday) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. Inurnment will be conducted at a later date. Casket Bearers will be his grandsons, Johnny Moreno, Rick Lucero, Michael Benavidez, Chris Moreno, Daniel King and James Lucero.
