Mildred Evelyn Slater Walters, long time resident of El Paso, TX passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by daughters Frances Robertson of Albuquerque; Joyce Bryan and her husband Will of Albuquerque; Janet Womack and her husband David of El Paso, TX; grandsons: Dan Long and wife Chrissy of NM; Jack Long and wife Donna of AK; Chris Womack of TX; Todd Womack of CA; great-grandchildren: Zeke and Sophie Long; and Jason, Katie, Sabrina, and Samantha Long. Millie was born July 17, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her family moved to Bisbee, AZ where she was raised. She attended Bisbee HS and enjoyed playing drums in the marching band. She married her high school sweetheart, Woodrow Harry Walters, in 1938. Woodrow's job with the Southern Pacific RR took them to El Paso, where they raised their three daughters. Millie worked with some of the first computers as a keyboard operator for the EP Natural Gas Co. She retired in 1979. After retirement, Millie and Woody enjoyed traveling, their family, and time together until Woodrow's death in 2000. They were long time members of Western Hills United Methodist Church in El Paso, TX. Mildred was foremost a mother. She had a patient, kind, and loving, spirit and was greatly loved by family and friends Memorial Services will be held in El Paso, TX at Del Angel Kaster and Maxon Funeral Home (Dyer St) on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery.
