Obituary for VIGIL

Gilbert Benjamin Vigil passed away peacefully on Thursday January 21, 2010 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; son, Vince; daughter-in-law Donna; brothers, Tom and Johnny; sister, Nancy; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Paul Benjamin Vigil and brothers, Felipe and Guillermo Vigil. Mr. Vigil grew up in Wagon Mound, NM and served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946 in the 193rd TK BN in various locations throughout the Pacific Theater. Upon his return from the war he relocated to Wyoming where he raised his family and worked Civil Service in air freight shipping at Francis E. Warren AFB for 20 years. He then retired to New Mexico where he occupied his time doing his favorite hobbies such as carpentry, woodworking, fishing and spending time with family. A memorial rosary and mass will be held on Monday January 25, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. Graveside Services will take place on a later date at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
