Obituary for BROWN

Paul Clifford Brown, "PC" or "Cliff", Born May 20, 1952 peacefully joined our Heavenly Father in his home on January 22, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward S. Brown Jr.; and his brother, Lawrence Brown. Cliff is survived by his mother, Betty C. Brown; and his daughter, Clarie S. Miller; and his grandchildren Ty and Shelby Miller. Cliff was a free spirit who loved the "island life" as he spent many years in Hawaii and the South Pacific Islands. Cliff had a love of animals and a special gift with horses, training and breaking them. He got his first horse at age ten, Lady and then an Appaloosa named Dutchess. Cliff grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Highland High School where he enjoyed his life long friends and being the lead vocals in his band Ruby Throat and the Hummingbirds. He joined the Army out of high school and was very proud of his time spent serving his country in his nine years as a military police officer. Cliff was stationed in Hawaii where he fell in love with the island life. He had an affinity for the ocean and loved to surf. Cliff graduated from Eastern New Mexico in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in Communications and was a brother of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Cliff worked for Federal Express for nine years before deciding to "island hop" through the South Pacific while substitute teaching as an American History teacher. Cliff was hit by a car in Guam in 1998 where he incurred a traumatic brain injury and since has been living in New Mexico and spent the last six months at home with his daughter and grandchildren. Cliff had God's love in his heart since birth and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He had a tremendous passion for music and concerts including Beach Boys, his favorite. Cliff had a zest for life and wonderful sense of humor and he will miss seeing his Dallas Cowboys play on Sundays. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday January 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Chapel 215 Locust St. NE, with The Rev. Paul Debenport officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Cliff's interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
