Cynthia O. Harris, M.D. passed away at home in Albuquerque, N.M. early on Saturday morning January 9, 2010. She was born on June 6, 1923 in San Francisco to Stanley G. Harris and Muriel Bent Harris. Cynthia is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years Leo O. Harris. Cynthia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Radcliffe College in 1945 and from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1963. Cynthia practiced psychiatry in Cleveland, joining the Gestalt Institute in 1964. She was a published author, a trustee on many boards and a member of the American Psychiatric Association and other professional associations. Cynthia received the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award in 2000 for her significant accomplishments. She was an ardent feminist, a committed environmentalist and a philanthropist. Cynthia loved animals and enjoyed singing and hiking. She will be remembered in a Memorial Service on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at French - University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, N.M. (505) 843-6333.
