Obituary for MONGAR

Elaine Mongar, 84, of Albuquerque, New Mexico left this world Friday, January 15, 2010 to join her husband in eternity. Elaine was born August 4, 1925 in Franklinton, Louisiana to Ophelia and Robert Burris. After graduating from high school, she attended LSU where she met and married Gradon Mongar, on VJ day 1945. Over the next 25 years they traveled the world as an Air Force family. Their final station was at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM where they eventually retired, moving to Albuquerque a few years later. Elaine served as a "Grey Lady" at the Cannon AFB hospital for many years. She was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed needle pointing and quilting. She was an excellent cook, and loved to entertain, welcoming many guests into her home and hosting many dinner parties as an officer's wife. She loved taking care of her home and family. Her husband, children and grandson were the loves of her life. Elaine is survived by one daughter, Carol Mongar of Albuquerque; one son, David Mongar of Clovis; one grandson, Christopher Mongar of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister Dorothy Burris Seal of Biloxi, MS; two nieces, Judy Jones of Gulfport, MS and Becky Stanley of Ocean Springs, MS; one nephew, Robert Seal of Baton Rouge, LA, and cousin Phillip Burch of Phoenix, AZ. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 1:30 pm. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe, NM. Those wishing to join the funeral procession may gather at French Mortuary, University Chapel at 12 noon. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at La Vida Llena Life Community Center, 10501 Lagrima de Oro Road NE, Albuquerque, NM.
