Grace Vivian Parry, 93, of Decatur, IL, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:15 p.m. Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Westminster Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Private family inurnment will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Hickory Point Christian Village Assisted Living Center. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are handling the arrangements. Grace was born on November 23, 1916 in Clinton, Iowa. She attended a community college and the University of Iowa where she met her best friend and husband, Marvin Parry. She taught elementary school near Clinton before and after her marriage to Marv. They moved many times during his career prior to landing in Decatur. They loved Decatur and had many wonderful friends with which they played bridge, golf and danced. When he retired they moved to Florida and lived there for 16 years enjoying the great weather and the friendships made. When their health began to fail, they came back to Decatur to be with family. Her lover of 59 years passed away in March of 2001. She leaves behind her children, Dr. Tom (Doris) Parry of Albuquerque, NM, Sue Parry of Decatur, IL, Cindy (Pat) Laegeler of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Cameron (Stephanie) Parry of Calistoga, CA, Kim Gordon of Decatur, IL, Tim "T. J." Gordon of Decatur, IL, Andy (Molly) Laegeler of Houston, TX, Rob Laegeler of St. Louis, MO, Kate Laegeler of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren, Jacob Parry Laegeler of Houston, TX and June Elizabeth Parry of Calistoga, CA; brother Charles (Margery) McKinley of Brownsville, PA. The family loves and appreciates the staffs of Hickory Point Christian Village Assisted Living Center and Imboden Creek Living Center for all their wonderful care of this great mother and friend.
