Edna Elizabeth Gleason, 94, joined Cecil her beloved husband of 59 years; and daughters, Janice Gleason and Janet Ferrell in Heaven on January 11, 2010. Formerly a Longwill of Des Moines NM, Edna married high school sweetheart, Cecil. Their travels during the Great Depression era took them to TX, KS, NE and MS, before settling and starting a family in Raton NM. Surviving family members include one brother, Merrill Longwill of Roswell; one son, Gary and wife Gerry of Alamogordo; three grandsons, Paul and wife Trish Ferrell of Tijeras, Patrick Ferrell of Albuquerque, Michael Gleason of Albuquerque and fiance Leanna Torres of Tome; two granddaughters, Wendy Gleason of Phoenix and Amy Gleason of Alamogordo; three great-grandsons, Patrick Nasworthy of Alamogordo, Dylan and Evan Ferrell of Tijeras. "Granny" was best known for her vibrant personality, a sincere interest in family and friends, master joke teller, and her love of colorful clothes. Family members, friends and acquaintances can attest to the fact that they never heard her utter a harsh word toward any individual. Edna was extremely proud of her New Mexico State Racing Commission citation for 52 consecutive years of working at New Mexico Race Tracks. She was a dedicated member of Queen Esther Chapter 1 Order of Eastern Star, lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Des Moines, NM, a substitute teacher in Bernalillo School system and a loving house wife and awesome mother and grandmother. Memorial Service will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho NM.
