Obituary for STRAQUADINE

Anthony Straquadine passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010. Anthony has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1966. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 5, 1923. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Gurke. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary E. Straquadine. His children are Angela and husband David Rave, Mariann Wheeler, Joel and wife DeAva, all of Albuquerque; Gary and wife Alyson of Tooele, Utah; Anthony, Jr., and wife Judi of Prior Lake, Minnesota; and Paul and wife Carol of Monroe, Georgia. Anthony was a proud Papa to his 14 grandchildren: Eric, Adam, and Paul (and wife Kristen), John, and David Tomas Rave; Noel Schaefer, Matthew, Cara, Amber, Ira, Justin, Marie, Joshua, and Nora Straquadine. He also is survived by great grandchildren, Avery Siebrasse, Ayden Hall and Hudson Heaton. Papa's grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was the son of Samuel and Angelina Straquadine. He was preceded in death by brothers Dominic, Angelo, Joseph, and Frank, and he is survived by brothers, Samuel and John. Anthony was very proud to be a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was an employee of NASA and retired from the US Department of Energy and LANL after 20 years of Federal service. Transferred to Albuquerque in 1966, Anthony spent his engineering career with an emphasis on quality control and assurance. One of his proudest achievements while working with DOE was his participation on the Tiger Teams to assess environmental, safety and health quality issues at laboratories around the nation. He was a member of the OSU Alumni Association, the American Society for Quality, the American Welding Society, and the American Legion. His grandsons will be pallbearers and his granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. There will be a viewing at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2010, at French - University Location. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Copper and 6th NW, Friday, January 15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to Roadrunner Food Bank, 5840 Office Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, 87109.
