Obituary for QUINTANA

Carolyn Lee Dailey, 85, most recently a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Los Alamos and Espanola, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Carolyn was born April 19, 1924 in Paint Lick, Kentucky to Otis Dailey and Hettie Walton Dailey. She grew up in Ohio and graduated from Cincinnati's Christ Hospital Nursing School in 1946. In 1948, while working as a nurse at the Veteran's Hospital in Chicago, she met and married her husband of 50 years, Carmel (Tony) Quintana. They moved to Los Alamos in 1950 where Carolyn worked at the local hospital from 1951 to 1989. During those 38 years, she worked in several departments and was highly respected by her colleagues. She and Tony raised their five children in Los Alamos. They loved living in Los Alamos and the outdoor activities available to them. She and Tony both spent many hours gardening. Crocheting and knitting were her favorite hobbies. In 1993, Carolyn and Tony moved to Espanola where she resided until her move to Albuquerque in 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony in 1999; sisters Mary Dailey and Norma Gruber; and her brothers-in-law, Calvin Gruber and Jesus Martinez. She is survived by her sister, Judy Goliniski, husband, Jim; and brother, Ronald Dailey, all of Florida; and sister-in-law, Bernie Martinez of Espanola. She is survived by her five children, Joseph Quintana, wife, Cindy, of Albuquerque; Michael Quintana, wife, Linda, of Deming, Washington; Carol Duty of Albuquerque; Mary Szudarski, husband, Roger, of Wonder Lake, Illinois and Barbara Musgrave, husband, John, of Los Alamos, NM. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Travis, Terra and Dillon Quintana; Michelle Duty; Megan, Ryan and Adam Szudarski; and Laura, Karen and Maria Musgrave; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn has been a resident of The Cottages for almost three years. The family would like to thank the staff for the care they have given her during this time. She will be buried with Tony at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Graveside services will be scheduled at a later date.
