Obituary for GIRAUDO

JOE GIRAUDO age 87 of Albuquerque departed this life on January 3, 2010. He was of Italian decent born in Los Cerrillos, New Mexico to Mike and Angelina Giraudo. As a young man, Joe worked for his father in the coal mines of Coyote near Madrid. In 1942 he worked for Mt. McCullyn Construction as a labor and a carpenter apprentice; and during World War II Joe was employed in the shipyards of San Francisco. Later in life he became a lath and plaster contractor; and from 1955 to 1963, Joe formed a partnership company called "Giraudo and House." Through the years Joe helped many family members build their homes or additions without accepting pay. Joe was known by his family and friends as an honest, hard working man, with a huge heart. Joe and his wife Eleanor raised their six children in the South Valley of Albuquerque near his father's home. Joe always loved horses, and he spent his later years on several acres where he boarded horses. Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include six children: Gina Giraudo Fulton with husband David of Clinton, Tennessee. Steve Giraudo with wife Lydia of Albuquerque, Diane Giraudo McDermott of Ashland, Oregon, Mike Giraudo of Columbia, Missouri, Angelina Giraudo of Placitas, New Mexico, and Mario Giraudo with wife Edwina of Corrales New Mexico. Joe has eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Rosary on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church located at 1400 Arenal SW, Albuquerque. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church followed by burial services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
