Obituary for LANGLEY

Betty June Langley died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, December 26, 2009. She was born in Stillwater, OK on March 9, 1930 to Kenneth I. Langley and Minnie Magdalene Roth Langley. Betty graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1948 and Eastern New Mexico University in 1952. Betty taught school for three years in Anthony, NM. She then returned to school and earned a Masters Degree in Religious Education from Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas, TX. Betty worked in a church in Des Moines, IA for three years and then moved to Santa Fe, NM. She was the Director of Religious Education at St. John's United Methodist Church in Santa Fe for about ten years. Betty then worked for the State of New Mexico Welfare Department and retired after 25 years of service there. She was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, in Santa Fe, NM. Betty always loved music and she participated in the music at St. John's UMC as well as playing the piano for some of the nursing homes in Santa Fe. She was a loving and caring person and will be missed. She is survived by her brother Richard's children, Mark, Brad, Linda and Kay; brother, Kenneth Langley and wife, Sue, of Burnett, TX and their daughter, Toshia and son, Todd; brother, Robert Langley and wife, Trish, of Albuquerque, NM and their daughter, Karen and son, Warren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Langley and wife, Fran. Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to D.L.D.
