Obituary for CHAVEZ

Augustine W. Chavez, Sr., a resident of Albuquerque, went home to join the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tranquilino and Abenicia Lopez; siblings, Delfinia, Donicio, and Joe. Augustine is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Priscilla Chavez; his son, Augustine Jr. and his wife, Mirta; his grandchildren, Augustine Chavez III, Pablo T. Chavez and his fiance, Regina Lujan, and Tina Weber; great-grandchildren, Tatiana, Myriah, Edwina, Pablo Jr. (PJ) and Arlene; brothers, Pablo and Jimmy; sister, Rose Ortiz and husband Leroy; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who loved him and will miss him. Sergeant First Class, Augustine Chavez, retired after 20 years in the US Army. He did two tours of Korea and one tour of Vietnam and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. Augustine was also one of the best lead guitar players in the state of New Mexico. He loved his music. Services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl, NE off Lomas, just west of Wyoming on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. The Viewing will begin at 9:15 a.m., the Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrated at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Wyoming Terrace Mobile Home Park, Clubhouse.
