Obituary for CHAVEZ

Rose Francis Chavez passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 with her loving husband of 66 years Louis, at her bedside. Rose was born in Watrous, NM on September 17, 1921. She was raised in a large family that took her to Trinidad and Model, CO. She would spend summers on the farm with her sisters and would spend the school year with her brother in Las Vegas, NM. Rose learned skills and a view of life different from the farm while living with her brother George, an entrepreneur during the prohibition. She attended schools in Las Vegas and Santa Fe before graduating from Hoehne High School, near Trinidad, "Home of the Fighting Farmers". She was married to Louis October 29, 1943 and served in the WAC during WWII. She moved to San Diego with her husband and two sons, Chuck and Chris, in the early 1950's where she worked for thirty years in retail sales. She and her husband retired and moved back to Albuquerque in 1987. She was preceded in death by her father, George Marion King; and mother, Aurelia Roybal; her brother, George; her sisters, Ruby, Emma, Eloise, Angie and Sophie. She is survived by her husband Louis; sons, Chuck and his wife Qiro Zuniga, Chris and his spouse Tere; grandsons, Chris and his wife Katie, Andre and his wife Christy, Paul and Aron; granddaughters, Terri, Lenny and Mitch, greatgrandchildren, Tori, Austin, Trevor, Taylor Rose, Wade Carlos, and Nicolas; her sisters, Sue, Mary and Anna Mae, Manny, Lee, Ryan and Carolym Orosco; many nephews, nieces and friends. She is remembered and loved by all that knew her for her vivacity and zest for life. She was the real thing. Rosary at 11:00 followed by Mass at 12:00, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at St.. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
