Obituary for GUTIERREZ

Louis "Po" Gutierrez- 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 11, 2009. He is survived by daughter KL Castella-Gutierrez of Las Vegas, NV; son Reuben Gutierrez, DDS, and wife Patti of Albuquerque; beloved grandson Lt. James Louis Gutierrez, USAF and wife Jennifer; and granddaughter LoriAnn Lacy Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Castella; his father Luis A. Gutierrez; and mother Maria Gutierrez; sister Mary Herrera; and brothers Manuel Gutierrez and Raymond Gutierrez. Mr. Gutierrez was retired from GE, also having been employed by the Santa Fe Railroad and ACF. Mr. Gutierrez was a veteran of WWII having served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Gutierrez was a member of IAM & AW, American Legion Post 99, and VFW Post 401. Mr. Gutierrez spent his retirement volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, Casa Esperanza and Catholic Social Services where he enjoyed preparing immigrants for their U.S. citizenship exam. Retirement also afforded him the opportunity, along with his son and grandson, to enjoy his passion for golf. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at French ~ Wyoming Blvd Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial services will be on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at French ~ Wyoming Blvd Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
