Obituary for DOWNEY

Bertha A. Downey, 97, passed away on December 12, 2009. She was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Downey. She is survived by her son, Jack E. Brannock; and her daughter, Joan Gordan; and grandchildren Tim and Lisa Brannock, Mike Brannock and Lesa McBride, Dan and Carla Brannock, Karen and Gary Chavez, Jeffery Schneider, Eileen and Charlie Simmons, and Deborah Schneider; She also has 15 great-grandchildren, Alyx and Ryan Brannock, Daniel and Amy Brannock, Garrett, Kaylee, Gavin and Grant Chavez, Victoria and Donovan Simmons, Raymond, Donna and Nicole Schneider, Tyler Howles and Rachel Chavez; She also has one great-great grandchild. Bertha was very involved in the Palo Duro Senior Citizens Center gift shop for over 25 years. She enjoyed crafts and ceramics. Special thanks to the care givers at Haven Care Aspen House and to the people at Ambercare Hospice Service. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at French ~ Wyoming Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with services to follow at 7:00 p.m. Bertha will be flown to Chicago for burial at Irving Park Cemetery.
