Obituary for SHERWOOD

Nereide Sherwood, 85, born in Torremaggiore (FB), Italy, raised in Paterson, NJ, and a resident of Albuquerque since January of 1957, died Thursday. Preceded in death by her husband Orville Joe Sherwood, she is survived by her children, Will Sherwood and wife, Margo of Santa Clarita, CA, Susan Parr and husband Monte, Jacqueline Van Hauen and husband Steve, Michael Sherwood and former wife Paula, all of ABQ; Judith Sherwood, Mimi Larimore and husband J.C., all of Houston, TX; Joe Sherwood, James Sherwood, Robert Sherwood, all of Albuquerque; Lisa J. Davis, of Los Angeles, CA, and John Sherwood of Houston, TX; Cousins Rita Dekake, of Paterson, NJ, John Tarta, Jr. of Vinton, VA and his sister Penny Tarta of Williamsburg, VA; numerous members of her extended family abroad, among them, Paola Tamaroglio and Nando Battini and their daughter Vera of Carnate (MI), Italy, and Fabio Tamaroglio of Genoa, Italy; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sherwood, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, founded Albuquerque Printing Company in 1960 with her husband Joe, and owned and operated it until selling the company in 1982. She then opened, owned and operated The Sherwood Company, which is still open today. She was a member and loving supporter of The Catholic Daughters Association, the Catholic Charismatic Association, the New Mexico Right to Life Foundation and a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and Parish. Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm, followed by a mass on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lomas and Tennessee, NE. Friends may pay their respects on Monday following the funeral mass at Glory Hall, 2421 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Cremation will take place at Salazar and Sons Mortuary, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Salazar and Sons Mortuary.
