Wendell S., Jr., 81, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 3, 2009. He was born in Denton, TX, on April 11, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Faye B. Dove. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Miller and husband Ron of Albuquerque; son, Robert Dove and wife Irma Dove of Albuquerque; beloved granddaughters Shelby Miller and Brittney Dove; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. As a young boy, Wendell lived in Texas, California and even spent time living in Barranquilla and Bogota, Colombia, with his military doctor father. Wendell learned to speak Spanish and experienced many adventurous times while living there. After attending Schreiner University in Texas, Wendell served in the U. S. Army as a Captain during the Korean Conflict. After marrying Faye, the love of his life, Wendell began his career with Sears, Roebuck & Co., in San Antonio, TX, transferring to Albuquerque in 1963. Throughout his career, Wendell managed many different departments, including plumbing, lawn and garden shop, the warehouse and even the toy department. He took great pride in his work at Sears and retired after 37 years of service. During Wendell's retirement years, he enjoyed gardening, swimming, reading, listening to music, watching TV and spending time with his family. He especially looked forward to driving his sweet granddaughter, Shelby, to and from preschool each day. Wendell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at French Lomas Chapel.
