Kent R. Matthews was born May 25, 1952 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He passed away suddenly Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his residence. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Matthews; his two sons, Cory Matthews and wife, Cindy and Justin Matthews; four grandchildren, Ian, Lyric, Alex and Liberty and long time friends Bob Overton and Jacki DeRoss of Gunnison, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Matthews. Kent served in the the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war, then returned to New Mexico where he resided in Corrales. He valued the many friends he made throughout New Mexico over the past 30 years while working as branch manager for Divele Scale Co. Kent loved the outdoors and went whitewater rafting and hunting recently. He was greatly loved and will be missed and remembered always. Kent was a gentle soul and loving dad and grandpa who always worried and took care of everyone. Private services will be held Friday, December 4, 2009 at the National Memorial Cemetery in Santa Fe
