Leocardio Martinez, Jr., 64, died November 12, 2009. He was born September 19, 1945 in Santa Fe, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. He attended St. Michael's High School and Highlands University. Leocardio also served in the US Navy and was ordained an elder with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his father Leocardio Martinez; his sister Kathleen I. Martinez-Meele; and brother Leroy E. "Duke" Martinez. Leocardio Martinez, Jr. is survived by his daughter Fania Martinez, mother Fannie Fresquez Martinez, sister Mary Ann Martinez Gomez and granddaughter Bianca Martinez. He is also survived by his friends Kim Leatherwood and Colonel Mark Maddox, among many others. The family will receive friends for a memorial on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 5709 Haines Ave. in Albuquerque. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with celebration of life to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Old House Tavern in the Eldorado Hotel & Spa.
