Obituary for SACOMAN

Michael J. Sacoman of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at his home in Albuquerque after a lengthy illness. Michael was born December 6, 1944 in San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles P. Sacoman of Santa Fe and stepdaughter Myra Nevers. He is survived by his mother, Mercedes Sacoman; loving wife of 39 years, Beverly Sacoman; step-daughter, Audrey Nevers and husband Todd; son, Damen and wife Sindy; son, Galen and wife Mallory; and siblings: Jim, Elaine, and Dorothy MacDonald. He was proud of his seven grandchildren: Chassady, Carrie, Cail, Justin, Katerina, Leilani, and Addison; and one great-grandchild Kira. After graduating from St. Michael's High School in 1963, he attended N.M. Highland's University where he received a BS in Biology. He went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Master's of Public Health. He was a dedicated commissioned officer of U.S. Public Health Service with Indian Health Service assignments in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Alaska, and North Dakota. He returned to Santa Fe in 1990 for his final assignment as Southwest Regional Consultant for the National Park Service where he retired in 1998. In retirement, Michael enjoyed family time, photography classes, playing tennis, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. Michael will be remembered for being a giving husband, the greatest father a child could have, and for the tremendous joy he had spending time with loved ones. Michael's happiness and positive attitude will be remembered by all that met him and he will be missed deeply. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 5 to 7 PM at Berardinelli Family Chapel in Santa Fe. Another Visitation will be held Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:30am at Berardinelli Family Chapel followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30pm.
