Obituary for CATON

Roy Duane Caton, 74, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on November 7 2009. Roy is survived by his wife Ingrid, daughter Tina, son Roy Jr., sister Judy Rivera, brother-in-law Crescencio L. Rivera, extended family and many wonderful friends. Roy was born 6/15/1935 in Kansas City Mo. to father Roy Allen Caton and mother Ada Alburtis Caton. He was raised on the Navajo reservation until the age of nine, when his family moved to Albuquerque and his father began work on the Manhattan Project. Roy attended Coronado Elem., Ernie Pyle JHS and Albuquerque HS - graduating in 1953. He trained as a pilot in 1958 and served in the Roadrunners squadron of the NM National Guard. A UNM alumnus, he earned a PhD in education administration in 1973. He met his wife of 49 years, Ingrid, while attending college. An educator for 30 years he was there from the beginning of the Albuquerque Skill Center as well as Albuquerque TVI. He had a high regard for his students. Musically inclined, he sang and played four musical instruments, celebrating a lifelong love of music. A member of four Albuquerque bands, he played with the Ortiz Trio. He sang in many venues from the church choir to Popejoy's presentation of Carmina Burana. His final resting place will be the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial services are pending.
