Obituary for GLEASON

Barbara Jean Gleason, devoted wife, loving mother and loyal friend entered eternal peace on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Barbara is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Henry Gleason; son, William Lawrence Gleason and his wife, Melanie, of Aurora, CO, and children William Brendan Gleason and Jamie Nicole Gleason; son, Michael Leslie Gleason; and daughter, Linda Jean Fresques and her husband Frederick, of Las Cruces, NM, and their sons Lee Devon and Taylor Austin. Barbara was born on November 24, 1929 to Lawrence Glenn and Marian Bates in Powell, WY. She grew up in Azusa, CA where she attended Pomona City College. A mutual friend arranged a blind date for Barbara with Bill Gleason, a Marine stationed at Terminal Island, San Diego. After three months they wed on March 19, 1947 and shared 62 years of glorious marriage. The couple moved to Bill's home town of Albuquerque in 1949 and have lived here ever since. Barbara retired as a secretary from Albuquerque Public Schools. She filled the lives of her family and friends with love, grace and beauty. Visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, 11:00 a.m., also at French Mortuary. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
