Nelson Ignacio Lazaro Samper, 82, peacefully passed away on Thursday October 22, 2009. Born in Bogota, Colombia, he moved with his family in 1962, to Los Angeles California, from Spain, and became a superb federal employee at the Los Angeles County Hospital for 25 years. He had been a resident of Albuquerque during his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances R. Samper; his daughter, Frances M. Samper MD, of Albuquerque; his grandson, Daniel C. Rosien; his son, Nelson Samper Jr. of Los Angeles; and numerous relatives in both Bogota, Colombia and Valencia Spain, as well as in the United States. A private family memorial was held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Shrine of St. Bernadette.
