Richard Adam "R.A." Long, age 90, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Los Chavez where he served as Pastor Emeritus for many years. R.A. pastored churches in New Mexico for most of his 70 years of ministry, including 20 years at First Baptist Church of Gallup. His wife , Martha Lee, preceded him in death in 2004. R.A. is survived by his five children, Richard Long, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Grand Junction, CO, Virginia Lee Hutson and her husband, David of Lufkin, TX, Joseph Long and his wife, Gloria of Belen, NM, Olive Balla and her husband, Victor of Los Lunas, NM, Ernest Long and his wife, Karla of Marshall Islands; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 31, 2009 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Boyd Morerod officiating. Interment will follow in Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
