Obituary for AN

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday October 29, 2009

Chang Hwan An, 65, passed away in the comfort of his home after a five year battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, October 25, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Chang moved to the United States in 1976 with his wife, Myong Sun and two children, Eun Hui (Julie) and Eun Jun (Tony). In 1979, Chang started a new small business and in 1982 welcomed an American daughter, Eun Bin (Jackie), into the world. America's opportunities have been generous with Chang and in his gratitude; his response had always been a deep generosity with anyone who he has ever met. Chang had always understood the meaning of giving and receiving help, and had been an unhesitating benefactor for those in need, as well as the arts. Anyone who has spent time with Chang is familiar with his love of jokes, his smile, and his warm, affable demeanor. Even in his last days, Chang was making jokes and giving firm handshakes. His profound love of making friends, preternatural work ethic and business sense have all resulted in the excellence of his business, Osuna Nursery. Chang is survived by his family and many, many loving friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution NE, Saturday, October 31, 2009, 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UNM Hospital, 700 Lomas, 2 Woodward Center, Suite 100, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
