John R. Dodd, Sr., 87, of Albuquerque, passed away at his home on October 3, 2009. John is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 57 years, Frances Burke Dodd; daughter, Maryanne Dodd Nicks, husband, Dennis; two sons, John Robert Dodd, Jr., wife, Mary, of Albuquerque; and Peter Burke Dodd, wife, Janet of North Richland Hills, TX; three grandchildren, John Robert Dodd III, U.S. Coast Guard; Andrew Dodd, wife Rebecca, of Albuquerque; and Kelly Ann Dodd, fiance, Lance Romero of Arlington, TX. John served his country in the Pacific War Zone during WWII where he was awarded the Air Medal for Heroic Action in Combat. He was a well known horseman on the east coast and a retiree of the United States Steel Company in Indiana. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW, with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sandias, 105 Hospital Loop NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
