Bernard E. Shea, 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in Espanola, New Mexico. Bernard was born February 17, 1925 the son of Charles and Sarah Baisione Shea in Alton, Illinois. He moved to Albuquerque from St. Louis, Missouri in 1952. Bernard had worked for the Sandia Laboratories before he retired. He was a volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul Society. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sarah Shea; first wife, Shirley Shea; daughter, Mary Anne Shea; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Oleta Shea of Rio Rancho; two daughters, Susan Maestas of Espanola, NM, Beth Gonzales and husband Joe of Farmington, NM; son, Terry Shea of Braozs, NM; step-son, Page K. Witty and wife Susan of Rio Rancho, NM; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Friday, October 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. Interment will follow in the San Ysidro Catholic Cemetery in Corrales, NM. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Bernard's name to St. Vincent De Paul Society, 714 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
