Obituary for SEDILLOS

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday October 07, 2009

Barbara C. Sedillos was born July 17, 1932 in Gallup, NM and embraced the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, October 5, 2009. Thank you Jesus for lending us your precious angel for 77 years. You must have known how much her family needed her as you gave her an endless supply of unconditional love to nurture everyone. Her greatest joy was to serve you and the large extended family entrusted to her. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone and was one of life's greatest treasures. It pains our hearts to let her go and our lives will never be the same but all knowing Jesus you saw she was tired and called her home to rejoice in heaven with you for eternity. Barbara suffered great loss when her son Richard (Ricky) Sedillos was suddenly and tragically taken in November 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents Juan Jose and Manuelita Chavez; her brothers, Leo Chavez and Tony Baca, her sister Melba Chavez; and sisters in law Julia Gonzales, Andrea Carrillo, and Rosie Bergman. Mrs. Sedillos is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mr. Frank Sedillos; her children and their spouses, John and Linda Sedillos, Frank Jr. (Bosque) and Karen Sedillos, Kathryn (Kathy) and Allen Jaramillo, Robert (Danny) Sedillos, Maria (Lena) and Anthony Trujillo, Barbara Ann Sedillos, Randy Sedillos and Paul (Steven) Sedillos; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Gilbert Chavez; sisters-in-law, Dolores Chavez, Dolores Mazon and Jennie Sedillos; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Mrs. Sedillos was anticipating the birth of her newest great-granddaughter due in October. Barbara was devoted, charismatic Catholic. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 4:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Josephs on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Josephs Pl. NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. by Deacon Gilbert Chavez. Final visitation will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church with a Communion Service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Deacon Gilbert Chavez, presider. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Allen Jaramillo, Paul Martin Sedillos, Damion Marquis Sedillos, Isaac Joseph Sedillos, John Joseph Sedillos, Greg Adam Sedillos, Anthony Joseph Santillanes, and Ryan Jacob Santillanes. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Finally, the family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara's Goddaughter, Gail Lynn, for her calm demeanor, compassion and reassurance during her final transition to Heaven.
