Alfonso Nieto, 87, born in Puerto de Lunas, New Mexico, January 4, 1922 and resident of Albuquerque for many years, passed away September 25, 2009. He served three years in the military from 1943 to 1946. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Manuelita; brother Ernest Nieto and wife Mary; four daughters, Lydia Maldonado and husband Porfilio, Margie Lucero and boyfriend Eddie Lopez, Rose Mary Torres and husband Nicasio, Mary Lou and boyfriend Freddie Lucero; six sons, Horacio and wife Eloisa, Eloy and wife Patty, Adolfo, Johnny, Steve and girlfriend Jeanett, Alonso and wife Wanda; 34 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He loved all his children and his grandchildren and the family will always miss him. We love you dad, always. A Rosary will be prayed at Salazar & Sons Mortuary on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Church. Internment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Porfilio Maldonado, Eddie Lopez, Ernest Nieto, Tony Nieto, Porfie Maldonado, Jr., and Anthony Maldonado.
