Yolanda M. Cruz, 74, a long time resident of New Mexico, born in New York City in 1935, was called home to Glory on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. She is survived by her sons, Maurice, and Eric Jones, Christopher, and Emory Miller and wife, Teasha of Albuquerque; two daughters, Devena and Savanna Cruz; sister, Terri E. Wilson; two brothers, Michael and Richard Espeut; and grandchildren, DaMeshia, Hailee, Mariah, Kandyce, Christopher, Xavier, Bryan, Calvin, Cheyenne, Mishawn, and Nikkia. After living eight years in New York, she moved to Washington, D.C. for 31years, Belen, NM for 16 years, Phoenix, AZ for four years and Albuquerque, NM for 15 years, where she cared for her mother Evelyn Wilson and grandmother Madeline Quarrels. Yolanda belonged to New Covenant Worship Center and participated in New Mexico Foster Care program as an advocate for children. She also participated in New Covenant Center Out Reach Ministry. Yolanda believed that every child deserved a fair chance to be loved and cared for. Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 20, 2009, 2:30 p.m., at New Covenant Center, 6007 Paradise Blvd NW, in Ventana Ranch.
