Victoria Barela, 83, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with our Lord, September 3, 2009. Victoria was born March 26, 1926 in Sabinal NM to Jose Chavez and Ramona Lopez Chavez. Victoria was preceded in death by her brothers Emilio Chavez, Gregorio Chavez and Juan Chavez. Victoria is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Mariano B. Barela; her children Angie Gomez and husband Eddie, Cipry Barela, Kathy Barela Swartz and husband Chris, and Mariano C. Barela, Jr., and wife Ruth; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Erica, Jose, Magin, Arianna, Greg and Eric; five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Gabriella, Alexia, Kaleb and Joshua; two sisters, Martina Brown of Savannah, GA, Ramona Jacks; three brothers, Nestsor Chavez, Gene Chavez and Frank Chavez. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE with Pastor Dina Baca officiating.
