Obituary for SCHROEDER

William Charles Schroeder, CWO2 (Retired) USMC was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 14, 1931 and passed away peacefully on September 4, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Herman Schroeder and his mother, Anna Mary Schroeder. Bill is survived by Rita, his wife of 49 years; his son, Charles H. Schroeder and wife, Karen and his grandchildren, William Charles and Sophie of Placitas, NM. Bill is also survived by his brother, Albert Schroeder and wife, Maryann of Houston, TX, and sister, Charlotte Joy and her husband, Frank of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and an avid sportsman. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Bill proudly served his country and the United States Marine Corps for 27 years. Additionally, he retired from the Albuquerque Public School System on March 8, 1989 where he taught at Rio Grande High School and John Adams Middle School. He graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from the University of Albuquerque, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of New Mexico. Memorial Services and Celebration of His Life will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French ~Wyoming Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel NE, will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009, 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
