Obituary for SAMPSON

Lucille C. Sampson The Spirit of Lucille Sampson departed from this earth on August 19, 2009. Lucille was a life long resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico and was born in Des Moines, New Mexico on November 13, 1914. She was married to James C. Sampson who died in 1981. Lucille is survived by her son Jim Sampson and wife Jan of Albuquerque; and two granddaughters, Sarah Holder and husband Jim of Englewood, Colorado and Catherine Brannon and husband Wes of Albuquerque. Lucille attended and graduated from New Mexico Normal University/New Mexico Highlands where she received her B.A. and Master degrees. She retired from New Mexico Highlands in 1977 where she taught in the Business Education Department and touched the lives of a large number of students including many current and retired high school business teachers. She participated in Senior Olympics and other outdoor activities. She loved the view of the mountains, the view of the valley from the top of the mountain, the rain, the snow, clouds, and flowers. She always had a smile and spread sunshine wherever she was. A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held on September 5, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge situated 518 Douglas Avenue in Las Vegas, New Mexico with Owen Young officiating. Rather than flowers or other memorials, a contribution may be made to the Masonic Chapman Lodge #2 Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 598, Las Vegas, New Mexico, 87701.
