Mercie S. Martinez, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2009 surrounded by his family. Mr. Martinez was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II. He was also a sales manager for Montgomery Wards for 30 years. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marie Martinez. He is survived by his children, Leonard Martinez, Martin Martinez and wife, Victoria, and Evelyn Vasquez and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Teresa Martinez, Sean Martinez, Sheyenne Martinez and Angelica Vasquez; great-grandson, Isaiah Jospeh Martinez; sister, Betty Castro; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass for Mr. Martinez will be celebrated on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church.
