Obituary for REYNOLDS

Robert Stanton ("Stan") Reynolds, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on September 1, 2009 at the age of 84. Stan was the son of J. Franklin and Nelle Reynolds and was born in Greeley, Colorado on January 28, 1925. His family moved to Albuquerque in 1929, where he graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1943. He interrupted his studies at Harvard University to serve in the Army Air Corps in World War II, where he was a radar countermeasures officer in the 20th Air Force, 19th Bombardment Group, flying seven bombing missions over Japan. After returning from the war, Stan married his childhood sweetheart, Louise M. Keena, with whom he spent 63 wonderful years of marriage. He completed his physics degree at Harvard and an additional degree in electrical engineering at the University of Colorado. Upon graduating, Stan took a position with Sandia National Laboratories as a member of the Field Test Organization. He was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff and served 44 years in various assignments, including Operation Dominic at Johnston Island in 1962. He was a senior member of IEEE; received the Pioneer Award from the International Foundation for Telemetering in 1995; and was a member of the Range Commanders Council. Stan was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife, Louise K. Reynolds; by his sisters, Jane Ash and Harriette Bolling; by his sons, Dean S. Reynolds and wife Susan; Gary A. Reynolds and wife Cheri; and David G. Reynolds and wife Michele; by grandchildren Brianne, Jeff, Chris, Erin, Kristen, Shannon, Amanda, Kathleen and Meredith; and by several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 1:00 p.m..
