Lupe H. Sena, 80 of Fort Sumner, NM died Monday, August 24, 2009 at her home. She was born October 31, 1928 in Yeso, NM the daughter of Miguel and Delfinia (Garcia) Hernandez. Lupe attended grade school in Yeso and Middle and High school at Fort Sumner. She married Alfonso T. Sena on July 29, 1946 in Fort Sumner. Lupe was a home maker, she also worked for several years at the Fort Sumner School Cafeteria. While her children attended Fort Sumner Schools she was active in P.T.A. and as a school sponsor for the D.E.C.A. program. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Lupe enjoyed reading, listening to New Mexico music and Mariachi music. She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren. She loved all her family and made each of them feel loved and special. She was a compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso T. Sena on February 2, 2000; her parents; a grandson Eduardo Sena; a sister Antonia Garza; a brother Roberto Hernandez; and a son-in-law Joe Moreno. Surviving are four daughters Vivian Whipple and husband Allen of San Mateo, CA, Josephine Moreno of Los Lunas, Susan Chavez and husband Fred of Albuquerque, Annie Gonzalez and husband Jesse of Houston, TX; six sons Anthony Sena and wife Helen of Espanola, Earl Sena and wife Barbara of Santa Rosa, Sonny Sena and wife Monica of Las Cruces, Lennard Sena of Fort Sumner, Clifford Sena of Albuquerque and Michael Sena of Arlington, VA; Also surviving are two brothers Carlos Hernandez and wife Pauline of Fort Sumner and Sotero Hernandez and wife Cora of Roswell; along with 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 from St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner. Mass will be celebrated from the church at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be her sons Anthony, Earl, Sonny, Lennard, Clifford, Michael; son-in-law Fred Chavez; and great-grandson Christopher Fay.
