Obituary for DONALDSON

Gerald E. Donaldson, Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 due to respiratory failure. Jerry was born to Nora Smith Donaldson and Charles Donaldson in St. Louis, MO on April 23, 1947 and lived in Albuquerque, NM since 1963. He married Mary Ann Wasko in February 14, 1957. He entered the United States Army in May 1954 and retired from military service in 1974. He attained the rank of Major, having served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, Jerry was awarded many medals and awards including Two Bronze Stars with valor earned during the Tet Offensive. After his military career, Jerry was employed by Albuquerque Federal S&L/AMDEC before starting his own business, Donaldson & Associates Real Estate Appraisal Company where he retired in 2003. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Donaldson in 2004; and children, Lowell Ray Donaldson in 1998 and Mark A. Donaldson in 2006. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gerald E. Jr. and Debra Donaldson of Honolulu, HI; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Andy Mumma of Los Lunas, NM; daughter-in-law, Maggie Donaldson, Albuquerque; grandchildren, Christin and Christopher Lindsey of Buda, TX, Jill Rodriguez of Kyle, TX, Nicole Mumma of Greensboro, NC, Michael Donaldson and Matthew Donaldson both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Christopher Cary and Andrew Rodriguez; niece, Bobbie Donaldson of St. Louis, MO; sister, Jacqueline of St. Louis, MO; and many dear friends. Jerry was very proud to have served his country in the US Army. He was a hero for serving in the US Army and especially as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We loved him and will miss his smiling face forever. Family and friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held Monday, August 10, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
