Obituary for DERRICK

Kenneth H. Derrick was born November 24, 1928 in New York City and passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Grace; son, Steve and wife, Patricia, of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Dawn Cartelli and husband, Gene, of Los Alamos, NM, and Gail Derrick Ferguson and husband, Dave, of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Brian and William, both of Albuquerque; and sister, Diane Cleary and husband, Jack, of Martinsville, NJ. Ken was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, serving in the USMC as an air controller. He retired from the Federal Aviation Agency after 33 years of service as a supervisory air traffic controller. After retirement he worked for Hughes Aircraft in California as a Design Engineer and in Albuquerque for the Washington Consulting Group, as an instructor. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Society of Airway Pioneers. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 6:30 p.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
