Obituary for LANGER

Edward E. Langer, 91, died peacefully on June 16, 2009. Ed moved to Albuquerque in 2006 from Decorah, Iowa, following the death of Helen, his wife of 61 years. He lived with his daughter and family, Jane and David McGuire. He is also survived by a son, Richard Langer and his wife Chris of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter Mary and her husband Van Butler of Durango, CO; and six grandchildren. Ed earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1940, and served in the US Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander and receiving a Medal of Honor. He retired from Sears Roebuck in Chicago as a buyer in 1972 and moved to northeastern Iowa where he lived for 35 years. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. A reception will follow at the McGuire home. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's memory to the New Building Project at St Michael's.
