Obituary for BUJOL

George W. Bujol, Col USAF (Ret.), 88, navigated his way to Heaven on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. He was born February 28, 1921 in Estherwood, LA. Col Bujol was known by many of his friends and associates as the "Last Bombardier", retiring August 1, 1970 after more than 31 years of service. His career truly bridged the transportation gap; upon entry into the service in April 1939, he was assigned a $165.00 horse as his mode of transport, and his last combat crew assignment was as a radar-navigator on a $14,000,000.00 B-52 bomber. He devoted his next 27 years serving the poor of Albuquerque through the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; his children Frances Felts and husband Joe, Barbara Zimmerman and husband Fred, Marie Bujol, George W. Bujol, Jr. and Renee Bujol; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona, SE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
